Effective January 29, 2019, ALS Acquired South American based company MARSS International. This acquisition supports ALS’ long-term strategy to diversify its inspection portfolio as well as significantly enhance service to customers at both ends of major mining, commodity trading and refining logistical routes. With an established network of experienced inspectors and surveyors in key locations in Chile, MARSS operates in crucial port and mining locations of strategic importance to ALS Inspection.
MARSS is a leader in inspection, certification and control services in the maritime and industrial field. Founded in 1987, with head office in Valparaiso, Chile, MARSS operates across multiple sites including Antofagasta, Arica, Iquique, Coquimbo, San Antonio, Talcahuano, Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas.
“This key investment into expanding our inspection network will dovetail with current ongoing construction and development of our analytical testing facility for ALS in Santiago, Chile.” said Christopher Walker, ALS General Manager, Inspection Services (Global). “Further developing analytical testing capability relating to core commodities and working towards ISO 17025 accreditation, thus enabling full-service provision in country.” The ALS Inspection laboratory in Chile is expected to be operational during H1 2019.
ALS is excited about this acquisition and welcomes MARSS International and their employees to the ALS team. This step will serve to solidify the position of ALS as a world leader in the provision of globally distributed analytical testing and inspection services.
